ISESCO: regional workshop on the engagement of women leaders in promoting the culture of peace

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) organized, from 3 to 6 July 2017, its Regional Center for Education for a Culture of Peace (CRECP), based in Yamoussoukro (Republic of Côte d’Ivoire), a regional training workshop on the engagement of women leaders in the promotion of the culture of peace. This workshop was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in collaboration with the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research.

Award Ceremony of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize: The winners of the 2017 edition rewarded

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize was awarded on June 27, 2017 at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, during a ceremony solemn. Several personalities were present at this ceremony, including President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire His excellency M. Alassane Ouattara, former Ivorian president and protector of the prize His excellency M. Henri Konan Bédié, former President of the Republic of Senegal and sponsor of the prize His excellency M. Abdou Diouf, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, Secretary General of the International Organization of la Francophonie Ms Michaëlle Jean and UNESCO Director-General Ms Irina Bokova.

Members of the Peace and Non-Violence Club of Daloa University trained

A seminar on "Students committed to the promotion of the Culture of Peace, Democracy, Human Rights and Reconciliation" was held on April 13 and April 14, 2017 in Yamoussoukro, To the Fondation Félix Houphouët-Boigny for Peace Research. It brought together thirty-seven students, all members of the club of peace and nonviolence of the University Jean Lorougnon Guédé of Daloa. Papers were presented on the following themes:

  • Education to the values of the culture of peace,
  • Community mobilization,
  • And social dialogue and advocacy.

The Foundation pays tribute to Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou (UNOCI)

On May 28, 2017, the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for the Search for Peace paid tribute to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, His Excellency Aïchatou Mindaoudou, during a ceremony held at her Headquarters in Yamoussoukro. The United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI), whose mandate will expire on June 30, 2017, retroceded its radio station, UNOCI FM, to the FHB Foundation, which became Radio de la Paix On March 1, 2017. In addition, vehicles have already been offered by the UN institution for the operation of this radio.

General Assembly of the Ivorian Section of the Association of African Historians

On 5 and 6 May 2017, the Ivoirian section of the Association of African Historians (AHA) held its General Assembly at the headquarters of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research in Yamoussoukro. This meeting brought together some fifty Ivorian historians. The AHA is a pan-African association founded in 1972 in Dakar, Senegal, whose aim is to bring together historian teachers and researchers from all over the continent. The points raised during the proceedings of this General Assembly were:

  • The examination and adoption of the Statutes and Rules of Procedure of the Ivorian Section,
  • The proposals for themes and the setting up of a local organizing committee for the 5th congress of the AHA planned for November 2017 in Côte d’Ivoire,
  • And the election of the National Bureau of the Ivorian section.
