Commemorative Days of the birth of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny

On October 18 and 19, 2017, the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research (FHB Foundation) revived the memory of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the founder of modern Côte d’Ivoire, through a series of events both in Abidjan and Yamoussoukro, marking the anniversary of his birth; October 18, 1905. These events were called “Commemorative Days of the Birth of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny” and were furnished for two days by:

  • a mass of thanksgiving and a public lecture on the first day in Abidjan
  • and the screening of an excerpt from an animated film and the inauguration of the institution’s bookstore at its headquarters in Yamoussoukro on the second day.

International Peace Conference at UNESCO in Paris from September 26 to 28, 2017

An International Peace Conference was held from 26 to 28 September 2017 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. It was organized by the World Fellowship of Buddhists and the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of Thailand to UNESCO, under the aegis of Venerable Master Chin Kung, President of Pure Land Learning College Association and Friends Master Chin Kung at UNESCO. Its theme was "Creating a sustainable society of peace: a legacy of King Bhumibol Adulyadej".

ISESCO: regional workshop on the engagement of women leaders in promoting the culture of peace

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) organized, from 3 to 6 July 2017, its Regional Center for Education for a Culture of Peace (CRECP), based in Yamoussoukro (Republic of Côte d’Ivoire), a regional training workshop on the engagement of women leaders in the promotion of the culture of peace. This workshop was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in collaboration with the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research.

Award Ceremony of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize: The winners of the 2017 edition rewarded

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize was awarded on June 27, 2017 at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, during a ceremony solemn. Several personalities were present at this ceremony, including President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire His excellency M. Alassane Ouattara, former Ivorian president and protector of the prize His excellency M. Henri Konan Bédié, former President of the Republic of Senegal and sponsor of the prize His excellency M. Abdou Diouf, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, Secretary General of the International Organization of la Francophonie Ms Michaëlle Jean and UNESCO Director-General Ms Irina Bokova.
