FÉLIX HOUPHOUËT-BOIGNY PRESIDENT’S BIRTHDAY COMMEMORATIVE DAYS: Gala Dinner – 18 10 2019

At the end of the days commemorating the birth of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the winners of the second edition of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Prize for Research were awarded on the evening of Friday, 18 October 2019, during a gala dinner hosted by the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research (FHB Foundation). This prize is awarded each year for the best research work relating to President Félix Houphouët-Boigny. This award ceremony was held with the effective presence of Mrs Henriette Konan Bédié, wife of the President of the PDCI-RDA and Senator Mrs Makani Diaby, 1st Vice-President of the Senate, who represented the President of the said institution.

For the prize rewarding the master’s theses, it is Mr. Kassoum Zié Ouattara of the Jean Lorougnon Guédé University of Daloa who won it for the quality of his work whose theme is: “the last electoral battles of the regime of Félix Houphouët-Boigny: Brotherhood Morning and the New Horizon 1990 and 1992”. The lucky winner received a cheque worth 500,000 CFA francs from the hands of Mrs. Makani Diaby.

As for doctorates, the prize went to Dr. Charles Sylvain GadIé of the University Félix Houphouët-Boigny of Cocody, for his brilliant thesis entitled: “Migration policy under the governance of Félix Houphouët-Boigny and regional integration: the case of the establishment of foreign camps in the department of Bloléquin”. He received a cheque for one million CFA francs which was presented to him by Mrs. Henriette Konan Bédié.

In terms of prospects, Professor Daniel BAHA BI, President of the Jury of this prize, revealed that this distinction will be open to private universities and will extend beyond the borders of Côte d’Ivoire to give it an international dimension.
