Mass of Thanksgiving Memory of Felix Houphouet-Boigny

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the death of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for the Search for Peace organized a Mass of Thanksgiving in memory on December 7, 2018 in Notre Dame Basilica. Peace of Yamoussoukro. In the presence of the President of the Republic, HE Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, his wife Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, several members of the government and supporters of the Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI), the party he founded, a prayer been said for the rest of the illustrious man.

After the welcome address of the Rector of the Basilica, Fr. Franck ALLATIN, Bishop Alexis TOUABLY, Bishop of Agboville and Administrator of the Diocese of Yamoussoukro, delivered the homily of the day in which he noted the lack of loving people to build a stronger and more competitive Côte d’Ivoire. “Let us love one another and we will be a people standing,” he recommended. Finally, he invited every Ivorian but above all politicians to be peacemakers for a national fraternity that transcends political, regional and ethnic barriers.

Mr. Amoikon Edjampan TIÉMÉLÉ, spokesman for the Boigny family thanked the assembly for his presence. “I hope that this circumstance will lead everyone to peace” he addressed to all Ivorians. This peace he wishes young people, especially those who have not known the illustrious builder. A room dedicated to Félix Houphouët-Boigny was inaugurated at the Basilica.
